CHAMBERLAIN S. PETERSIDE, Ph.D - Founder & Chairman Emeritus

 


Chamberlain has double doctorate degrees in finance and economics and nearly twenty years’ experience in international business, financial consulting and investment. He carved his way to success in financial circles on Wall Street after setting himself apart at leading organizations such as Global Private Client Group a division of Merrill Lynch and HSBC Brokerage, USA. He has also served in academia.

The archetypal businessman and a leader in the financial industry, Dr. Peterside presents regularly at industry conferences. He speaks Russian fluently and has debated economic policy as well as social and political affairs on television networks in Russia and the U.S. He appeared on CNN’s Financial Program, “In the Money,” to discuss economic reform efforts in Africa.

Chamberlain has received several awards for his work and leadership. In 2007, the United States Congress honored him with the coveted Congressional Citation for his outstanding professional accomplishments and tireless advocacy. During Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary, he was named one of the “50 Most Distinguished Nigerian Professionals in the USA and Canada.”

In 2011, Dr. Peterside took a leave of absence as Chairman of New Era Capital Corp to serve as Commissioner for Finance of Rivers State, Nigeria, leaving Daopuye Simon-Ogan at the helm.

Chamberlain is a member of the Rivers State Economic Advisory Council in the Delta region of Nigeria. He is an accomplished author, a role model in the community and is held in high esteem by his peers. He keeps his mentorship and humanitarian efforts private.


DAOPUYE SIMON-OGAN - Chief Operating Officer

 

 

Daopuye Simon-Ogan is Chief Operating Officer of New Era Capital Corp. He has worked in senior level positions at several corporate organizations and philanthropic institutions. Prior to joining New Era Capital Corp, he had attained a level of prominence in his field, with more than 25 years of professional experience in financial management, accounting and tax planning.

Mr. Simon-Ogan holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Howard University and a Master’s of Business Administration in Accounting from the University District of Columbia. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1989.

In addition to his duties at New Era Capital Corp, Mr. Simon-Ogan has run his own financial consulting and tax services firm for eighteen years in New York, where he also manages real estate. He is active in the Howard University Alumni Association, the Association of Black CPAs and other non-profit organizations. He is known for his congeniality and seeks to provide opportunities for the next generation.



ELIJAH IRBY - Financial Analyst

 

 

Elijah Irby is a financial analyst at New Era Capital and has a strong background in finance and technology. Before joining New Era, Elijah gained considerable experience in the financial markets as an equity derivatives portfolio manager at a volatility arbitrage hedge fund, where he traded options in the retail and energy sectors, following a brief 2- year period as an option specialist clerk on the American Stock Exchange.

At New Era Capital, Elijah is engaged primarily in Trade Development, Risk Management, and Infrastructure Advisory. In this capacity he develops financial, economic, and political risk mitigation packages for clients wishing to trade in emerging markets. He also structures and arranges trade financing for emerging market clients, primarily in the commodities sector.

Elijah’s professional interests include international trade, financial modeling, structured commodity finance, and bankruptcy law. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Middlebury College and an MBA with concentrations in finance and accounting from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.


ATONYE WILCOX - Senior Financial Analyst, CPA – Advisor, Rivers State Government Infrastructure Unit

 

 

Over the last seventeen years, Ms. Wilcox has held various challenging financial positions ranging from financial sector, engineering, real estate, and telecommunications to public accounting firms within the United States and Nigeria.

Ms. Wilcox was a Partner in Puglisi & Associates (USA), a certified public accounting firm, where her services as a tax, audit/financial advisor were key in assisting both individuals and corporate clients in carrying out their financial operations with ease.

In May 2011, Ms. Wilcox decided to bring her skills to Nigeria, where she has since been serving as an appointed advisor to the Rivers State Infrastructure Development unit working in unison with the Public Private Partnership office within the state. This appointment is as a result of her past activities, hard work and in-depth knowledge of financial and project management working with various sectors within the country. She has worked as an acting CFO in a power company maintaining controls, policies & procedures, as a financial controller in the first credit bureau in Nigeria, assisting the bureau in obtaining its operating license from the Central Bank of Nigeria, and as a Senior Financial Manager at a telecommunications company in Nigeria where she implemented controls, policies and procedures for the company’s financial processes, and completed a 4-year-period financial audit within 1 year.

Atonye holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Strayer University in Washington DC and an MBA in International Finance from the University of Maryland


KUNLE BALOGUN - Financial Analyst – International Projects

 

 

Kunle is a Financial Analyst in the international practice of the firm, focused on offshore projects within the African continent. His responsibilities involve playing crucial role in our deal-origination and execution effort on the ground. He assists in analyzing projects, helps in packaging Strategic Business Plans (SBP) and developing financial models/spreadsheets for projects.

Kunle brings to the firm wealth of experience in Financial Analysis and Commercial Banking spanning over 5 years. Prior to his current engagement, Kunle was Bank Executive in Societe Generale Bank Nigeria, where his primary responsibility was working with small and medium sized business owners in analyzing business proposals and structuring loan transactions as well as other financial products to meet their specific needs.

Kunle earned a Bachelors degree in Banking and Finance and holds both and MS degrees and MBA in Finance. He has an excellent working knowledge of financial tech-applications and modeling tools.


ADEOLA OTUNUGA - Executive Assistant

 

 

Adeola currently serves as the Executive Assistant/Office Manager where she liaises directly with clients and senior management. She is also the Project Coordinator for Human Capacity Development at New Era. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honors from Rutgers University where she majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. She had worked at several prestigious law firms as a legal assistant and paralegal before joining the team. Adeola is highly proficient in several management level software packages and prides herself in having effective organizational, time management, and project coordinating skills, as well as strong analytical and problem solving abilities. She currently lives in New Jersey.

HELEN OKOCHA - Manager - International Operations

 

 

Helen has over ten years of working experience spanning the areas of Entrepreneurship, Administration and Organization. She is currently the Manager, International Operations of New Era Capital Corp. Her duties include; recommend and implement procedures and policies to improve operations, maintenance of adequate office security and assisting with servicing current clients amongst others.         

Prior to joining New Era she worked with Touche Nigeria Limited as a Manager/Certified Test Administrator. Her responsibilities at Touche include; maintenance of security of tests, materials and test centre, planning, ordering and inventory process including emergency situations. Before Touche Nigeria Limited, Helen worked with Chrismatel Nigeria Limited, a shipping and clearing agency as an administrator. She carried out all administrative related duties both locally and internationally with clients.                                           

Helen holds a master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from University of Lagos; Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) In Library Science/Sociology from Bayero University, Kano; and Diploma in Library Science from Bayero University, Kano.

GARRICK BASSEY - IT Support Analyst

 


Garrick is International Operations and IT Support Analyst. His responsibilities involve researching problems, planning solutions, recommending software and systems, and coordinating development to meet business and other requirements.

Garrick has over 7 years of experience creating, applying, and managing new technology. 

He started his career in 2006 as a freelance web designer and in 2007 he advanced his skills to include software engineering and systems analysis and later worked as an Outsource Engineer for small businesses, managing and helping them develop Software. He is conversant with several computer programming languages like JAVA, C, and php.
